Hello,

It's been a while since I've posted here, but I'm planning on fixing the oil leak on my 2000 savage next week and I wanted to know if anyone has an opinion on this. My brother in law, who is a mechanic, came up with a soultion to fix the leak. He says you can buy something called a freeze cap at an auto parts store. He said he would take the rubber plug and match up the size. He says that you can hammer this cap in place so it is flush with the hole and put sealant around it and it will stay put. He says that he has used it in numerous automotive applications. Also, he suggested getting gasket material and making a real gasket for the head cover, ,instead of just using permatex. What do you think? Does this sound like a good plan?

Thanks,
Mike
